Transneft PCD has finished inspection of the Sosedka – Nikolskoye section of the Ufa – West petroleum products trunk pipeline (PPTP) in Tambov Region.
The in-line inspection of a 20 kilometre long section using combined examination devices was done upon completion of welding, insulation and pipeline hydraulic testing. The measures are being implemented as part of Transneft Druzhba’s facilities technical upgrading and revamping programme. Transneft PCD acts as the technical customer, and Transneft Diascan’s professionals perform the inspection.
The purpose of the inspection is to obtain source data about the technical condition of a newly mounted pipeline section prior to commissioning.
Utilisation of up-to-date instruments enables to promptly reveal various types of defects, such as metal loss caused by factory operations and corrosion, cracks and anomalies in welded joints and pipeline body, non-magnetic inclusions and wall laminations.
No defects were found based on the inspection results.
Connection of the new line portion sections to the functioning petroleum products trunk pipeline is scheduled for late June 2018. The revamping of the Sosedka – Nikolskoye section of the Ufa – West PPTP is expected to be completed in September 2018.
The Ufa – West PPTP is run by Transneft Druzhba. The petroleum products pipeline’s route covers four regions, and the Sosedka – Nikolskoye section that is being revamped lies in Bondarsky District of Tambov Region. The revamping the line portion and underwater crossings of the petroleum products pipeline was launched in August 2017.
