Transneft PCD Completes Siphon Tests at Petroleum Products Pipeline’s Underwater Crossing in Vladimir Region

Date of publication: 25 February 2019

Transneft PCD has completed hydraulic testing of siphons at the Novki – Ryazan petroleum products trunk pipeline (PPTP) underwater crossing of the Sudogda River in Vladimir Region.

The set of measures was implemented under Transneft Upper Volga’s facilities’ technical upgrading programme, with Transneft PCD acting as the technical customer.

Revamping of the underwater crossing, that started in November 2018, envisages replacement of more than 2 km of pipes with the diameter of 530 mm, including two siphons of the main and the standby leg, each 882 m long. It is also planned to replace two PIG (pipeline inspection gadget) traps, two stop valve units and more than 6 km of electric power transmission lines.

The hydraulic tests were done to verify the strength of the siphons, prepared for being pulled.

As of now, the siphons are being prepared to undergo inline inspection by dry pulling.
