Transneft PCD, acting as a technical customer, has completed the technological connection of the newly constructed section of the Surgut – Polotsk oil trunk pipeline (OTP) in Novotoryalsky District of the Republic of Mari El and Yaransky District of Kirov Region.
The construction work at the 1,765.6–1,779 km section of the oil trunk pipeline was launched in June 2019. In total, about 13.5 km of the trunk pipeline was constructed and connected, and engineering protection was arranged.
A full range of hydraulic tests and in-line inspections was carried out. The section was connected during a scheduled 120-hour shutdown of the Surgut – Polotsk oil trunk pipeline. Completion of the construction and the OTP section commissioning are planned in autumn.
62 people were involved in the works. Pumping through the oil trunk pipeline was resumed in accordance with the schedule and is being carried out according to the normal protocol.
The reconstruction of the Surgut – Polotsk OTP is carried out as part of Transneft Upper Volga’s technical upgrading programme aimed at increasing the operational reliability and environmental safety of its oil pipeline transport facilities.
